This is how the side frames, in this case the first one, were supported and restrained during the heating and bending procedure. The engine hoist was used to lift the inverted side frame onto the pile of ties supporting the three truck bolsters. Two c-clamps were installed to the near tie to fasten the side frame in place. The hoist was left hooked up for the entire operation, as a safety measure in case the clamps popped off. Worked great.
